TD13 Damping Sheet
TD13 damping sheet with a self adhesive backing is used for sound and vibration damping
and helps protect metal panels from corrosion. The adhesive side is
smooth, allowing
good contact with the underlying surface without any air pockets or channels.
The product is odourless, wear resistant and waterproof. Both pad
material and adhesive
can withstand temperatures between – 30ºC & 90ºC.
Specifications
The acoustic loss factor ‘d’ is used as a measure of sound damping. It states how much vibration
energy
(in steel plate for instance) is converted to heat and thereby loses its ability to generate sound.
The theoretical
maximum loss factor is 1. An un-damped steel panel 1mm thick has a loss factor of
roughly 0.001 at 200 Hz.
Clad with TD13 its loss factor would be 0.14. Another measure of damping
capacity is the decay rate.
This defines in dB/sec how fast a sound level attenuates after degeneration
has ceased. The decay rate for a
1mtr x 10mm steel strip 200mm long is11 dB /sec. The same strip covered
with this product would be 800 dB/sec.
Colour:
Light grey
Thickness:
1. 6mm
Weight:
1. 6 kg/m5
Temp resistance range: -
30ºC to + 90ºC
Fire classification:
Meets FMVSS 302 and is approved to UL 94 HBF self-extinguishing.
Chemical Resistance:
Resistant to water & mineral oils
Sheet size:
1000mm x1600mm.
TD13 has a specially developed acrylic self-adhesive backing that provides a smooth
face and therefore gives excellent contact with the
surface to be damped. This unique adhesive makes
for easy application and will withstand tough environments within a temperature
range of -30°C to +90°C.
