Wall Mounted Acoustic Control for Plant and Equipment

Rock Mineral Wool Acoustic Elements

Rock mineral wool acoustic elements provide excellent levels of acoustic absorption
co-efficient can be 1.0 (measured in accordance with ISO 354).

Particularly suitable for use in work areas subject to intense noise levels from plant and machinery, rock mineral wool acoustic elements are available in a range of sizes and are simply bolted to bulkhead and soffit areas. The perforated steel and ‘impervious film’ facing allows easy wash-down and maintenance and provides high resistance to impact damage especially important features in plant rooms.

The elements, which are nominally 1200mm x 600mm x 50mm thick, can be easily cut to size on site and positioned to avoid services and penetrations.

Single piece, aluminium, galvanised or stainless steel sheet is formed into open-backed ‘cassettes’ which are inlaid with rock mineral wool in a plastics wrapping.

The front face of the element is perforated with 3mm diameter holes, giving an open area of 33%.

Rock mineral wool acoustic element, standard size, fixed over a 50mm cavity.
Test method: ISO 345 (1985).

If a 25 – 50mm gap is left between the elements, a small decrease in absorption can be expected (typically 5%).

If the elements are fitted directly to the mounting surface without a cavity, a decrease in low frequency absorption is likely.
